I own two of DNN 4 books, from WROX. I don't find them interesting or even usefull.

It's a kind of wasted money.

If I am new to DNN and don't have time to explore and understand all of the code, it will be interesting to have a book describing all the modules available in DNN package, with clear examples showing you, what you can do with that, and how can you do this.

Next, show some coding examples, more pictures, more step by step.

It's just a suggestion for writing your next book.

I' m tired to read very word compresses readme.txt of the modules and waste time on experimentation.

Thanks,

angry customer.

I believe the books about dnn are pretty diverse, I have 9 different titles (with one coming) although the three 'professional' books, sort of represent the evolution of DNN. My personal favorites: professional DotNetNuke (Walker et al.), Beginning DotNetNuke (Hay and Walker), DotNetNuke module programming (Sellers).

DNN for dummy's is written more from the end user perspective, it explains most of the core modules but is becoming a bit dated. Haven't see Chris Hammonds book yet so I can't comment on that.

Michael Sellers book is dedicated to module development.

To the OP:

Check out http://www.dotnetnuke.com/guidedtour

While it's slightly outdated, it's a good "walkthrough."

I meant that books could be more detailed.

There are new books published in 2009, already on sale for DNN 5.

The new DNN version is more reach, so I hope it's same for the books.

Mike Reiley, thanks very much for the link. I even didn't know about the existence of this Guided Tour.

there is a problem with Open Source software that development is hardly predictable months in advance, not even for authors with intensive imagination. Unfortunately, the core team is still struggling to provide a central resource of information; currently most bits are spread around various documents, blogs, forum posts and some tweets, which makes it hard to follow. Hopefully this will be solved not too far in the future.
