Hi,

I would like to discuss two changes to the Link Exchange program running on Dotnetnuke.

First of all, the page navigation should become a full href without any postback. In my opinion the postback is disgarded by any bot and therefor all  links on all pages except the first are not crawled and therefor about 32 pages * 12 links per site do not benefit at all in a page linkexchange.

2. I have seen 2 or 3 php websites between the links. I guess they should not belong there.

3. It would also honest to divide the number of links on the country of origin. A website in Luxembourg or Liechtenstein will never become on the first page since they simply do not have the number of habitants like the US or Russia.

4. Other option is to randomly display the links so that any link is crawled at a certain moment of time.

Hi J

That is correct there is a flaw in the page of Dotnetnuke Link Exchange if you do a test and search the content on the first page you will find this inside Google BUT if you grab any other text on page 2-32 they od not exist in Google which is very important to anybody ... view this link and there is content inside Google: http://www.google.se/search?hl=sv&rlz=1W1GGLL_en&q=Ismet+Dumlupinar+has+been+publishing+friendly+tutorials+that+folks+using+Godaddy+to+host+their+DotNe+site%3Adotnetnuke.com&btnG=S%C3%B6k&meta=

this shows this content does NOT exist insida google: http://www.google.se/search?hl=sv&rlz=1W1GGLL_en&q=Sat%C4%B1l%C4%B1k+ve+kiral%C4%B1k+emlak+ilanlar%C4%B1n%C4%B1n+bulundu%C4%9Fu+en+pop%C3%BCler+site.+Bedava+ilan+verin+veya+aray%C4%B1n.+site%3Adotnetnuke.com&btnG=S%C3%B6k&meta=

Hi Johan,

Thank you for the confirmation that the LinkExchange is not benificial for the linkpartners, except DNN itself. I hope somebody of DNN steps in to correct this.

J.

AFAIK it is a custom module of the Corp.

Thanks for reporting this issue. I will check with our engineering team on correcting the page navigation behavior. For now, I have increased the number of entries displayed on the first page as a small first step.

On the issue of grouping by country, I am not convinced this is needed once we correct the navigation so it can be followed by crawlers. Is my assumption correct or am I missing something?
