I like this software .. not least because I know a bit of visual basic.

What I don't like is how much it's going to cost me in terms of hosting a dotnetnuke site .....

I am currently paying about $10 for 5 gig and 75gig bandwidth for joomla hosting.

The cheapest site I have seen for a dotnetnuke site is about $15/M and under a gig of diskspace ....

Is there any cheap hosting available for a windows based dotnetnuke  installation ?

Why is it so expensive ? I can only assume it's because Mr Gates has his hand in the till for the server software ?

You hit the nail on the head.  Licensing Windoze server OS and SQL Server is quite expensive.

Keep in mind though that you get what you pay for.  You can try out places like DNN4Free.com (free), WebHost4Life (?), or PowerDNN (>=$20/mo).

I help run DNN4Free and PowerDNN so if you have any questions, just ask.
DNN4Free is a good place to try out DNN but if you're looking for solid DNN hosting, then PowerDNN is a good place to check out as well.

    I like free
Especially when getting a taste for something like dnn.

Thanks for putting that site up .. I will be trying out dnn for sure now !

At $20/M your hosting sounds reasonable enough too (compared to all the other windows hosting I have seen).

What I still don't really grasp though is why such small disk space and bandwidth limits when compared to a linux /php/mysql setup ? ..

I realise they don't have to pay for server licensing but does that translate directly into smaller hardware and smaller bandwidth for windows solutions ? Seems a bit disproportionate to me somehow ...
