I wanted to share our experience with www.alldnnskins.com and hopefully prevent any other developers from going through the nightmare we did.

We decided to use their outsourcing services, they seemed cheap and we were trying to stick to a tight budget and needed help for a big project. We asked them to create a site with the same functionality as Digg.com. We wanted users to be able to post article links, pics, and video. They said no problem and we agreed to a price. We purchased the mods needed and in two weeks they were finished. They tried to pass of a site that did not function properly and had nothing close to what we requested.

We decided to remove some of our requirements because they could not figure how to make it work. Which is frustrating, they accepted the job without doing any research to see if they could actually build it. Well after dozens of emails and 6 more months of waiting, we decided to ask for a refund. We had given them enough chances and were tired of waiting weeks for a responses or adjustment made to the site.

We paid All DNN Skins $355.00 to build a website, they were unable to complete what we asked and decided to keep our money as payment for trying. We never received anything from them and they have refused to give us a refund.

We found a company called Rent a coder (www.rentacoder.com )and they will hold your money in an escrow account and only pay the developer if the site is completed as you requested. We have been using them on our last few jobs and have been very happy. So please think twice before you give your money to All DNN Skins!

Did you budgeted $355.00 (three hundred and fifty five dollars) for a site like Digg.com???

That is some bargain....

I would have bought two at that price!

Joking aside, you pay peanuts you get kicked out the shop - a good skin will be over $2k. I recently had PokerDIY reskinned (pure UI, no dev/module/custom work) but ThinkOfDesign and the result was fantastic - I would be suspicious of anything under that cost.

To be fair though, they should have a chance to respond to these allegations.

Wow only $355 to reproduce a website thats worth about $225 milion (http://digg.com/tech_news/Digg_Sold_for_225_Milllion - even though they decided not to sell for that low price). Obviously your note a coder, a website designer or some one that can come up with some original ideas that understands how long a good website takes to create.

I wish you luck with rent-a-coder as I am sure you will succeed on your budget.

I have to agree.. $355 for custom digg functionality, and the whole website to boot!, is really pushing it. You might have better luck coming to an agreement to split the losses. It's certainly only the tiniest fraction of what you'll be paying to build the real thing in the end.

I've used alldnnskins for some basic module development and have been satisfied with the service and results, but I've also always been fairly realistic with my expectations.

Good luck
Rob
