David:
Sorry you got turned off. The page you see is the culmination of a nine-day process of supplying prospective members with a daily video and free access to a variety of tools that are a part of Stompernet like Market Samurai, Traffic Geyser, etc. It was also a process of introducing the StomperNet staff and faculty. If you are not familiar with StomperNet at all, then I can understand your viewpoint. I probably should have put something out there on day 1 of the launch cycle so you could have had a chance to absorb the info as the process went along. The best way would be to start at the bottom and consume some of the content they gave away over the last couple of weeks. That is my fault. But don't blame SN for that.
You have to realize that the original SN launch three years ago in October 2006 was the largest product launch in the history of internet marketing ($7 million plus). So I am not going to second guess their strategy. Additionally, they have launched two smaller products SMARTS and formula5, which turned out to be two of the largest product launches as well.
They are taking a product that was supported by 1,000 plus members at $800/month for three years and trying to offer it to a wider audience at $197/month. This is a way of celebrating what has been accomplished over three years, rewarding their charter members, and bringing in new people. So yes they are pretty heavy on the social proof. For people who are into online marketing (not just the business of teaching people to market), SN has provided the best all around education I can find. The staff and faculty are some of the brightest minds you can imagine. Leslie Rohde invented the concept of link reputation. Andy Edmonds has a PhD in Cognitive Psychology and was a usability expert at MS. David Bullock has forgotten more than I will ever know about Taguchi (multi-variate) testing of websites.
I am sorry if my delay in putting this out there causes you to miss out on at least taking a serious look at SN. Honestly I started not to even mention it because I figured it would get moderated out. [RANT] It is a little frustrating for me to have been in DNN almost every day since version 1 and supporting and evangelizing the product in any way I can, and find myself in a position of being moderated on the forums because of the changes in the Benefactor program. [RANT]
Oh well, that's about all I have for now. Hopefully this info has provided a more clear understanding of SN and what it offers.
