Hello, all

I am new to DNN. My production or "live" version shows 4.04.01. When I downloaded 4.9 I see 4.09. whatever. Does this mean my current version 4.04.01 is actually version 4.4.1? I need to upgrade and have no idea the path I should take. Could I just upgrade directly to 5.14?

Regards,

Jeffrey Flory

Preceeding zeros are worth nothing, so your assumption on numbering is correct.  As for upgrade path, there have been quite a few posted in the fourms.  You at least want to do 4.4.1 to a 4.6 version, then a 4.9 version before a 5.x upgrade.

preceding zeros are worth just as much as any other number. They are used for easy sorting the different releases for instance.

afaik the preferrede upgrade path from 4.4.1 is this:

  • 4.4.1 -> 4.6.2 (remember to manually sync your webconfig with the 4.6.2 webconfig (check release.config for the new things))
  • 4.6.2 -> 4.9.5 (no manual web.config changes needed)
  • 4.9.5 -> 5.1.4 (no manual web.config changes needed)

always use the upgrade package, and check individual modules for newer available versions.

also: always make backups...
