This is a long shot...

I have a client with a DNN site that has been, to be blunt, recklessly adding image files to the site over the past several years, then adding more and more and more without ever removing the outdated files from their server. At this point, there are hundreds, maybe thousands of files on the server, and no easy way to know which can be deleted and which are still in use. Is there a module (or some other means) of determining either which files are active or which are no longer in use, so we can start to clean out the server and free up space?

Ken,

Depending on the size of thesite you might be able to get this done a few different ways.

1.) You can use IIS logs to see what files have been served, and using this information you could cross check a list to see what files have or have not been served up over a specific period of time.  Identifying potential files for deletion.

2.) You could start crawling the site to get all image links and then items that are not in the list can be removed.

There are most likely some other ways of doing this, but it will be involved.

I've done this type of work for clients in the past, feel free to drop me an e-mail at msellers@iowacomputergurus.com if you are open to considering a consultant for this type of thing.
