what i need....is a way to collect one piece of data from any user to my site.  ideally, what i'd like is to have a modal popup appear on the homepage prompting the user for the DELIVERY zipcode they will be delivering to (not THEIR zip code......but where they will be shipping to)

i need this to determine which products to display (some distributors don't ship to some zipcodes)

i found one free module that does a great modal popup but it doesn't have the ability to collect any data AND it fires on EVERY load of the homepage rather than just the first load of a session.

 

so...does anyone know a way i can do this in DNN?

You are going to need to code something custom to get this done, but it is more than possible.  I have my Pop-N-Go module that does a Modal dialog, and actually with DNN 5.2.x and later it is even easier, as the Telerik controls can be used to do the modal, for better cross browser setup.
