My apologies in advance if this is not the correct forum for this post.

Running a fresh install of DNN 5.3.1 on Windows Server 2003 (64bit)/SQL Server 2005 (64bit)/ASP.NET 3.5 sp1.

I'm having problems installing modules.  As soon as I pick the PA file and click next, the page never advances and I eventually get a timeout error in the Application Log at the server.  No errors are recorded in the DNN Event Viewer.  I've tried several different modules and it happens with most that I've tried.  I did manage to get a couple of modules installed but now it is timing out on every module.

I've added an "executionTimeout=4500" parameter to The httpRuntime section of the web.config with no effect.

Restarting the application and App Pool does no good.

If I try to restart IIS the service does not come back up and I must restart the server to get DNN back online.

The database and log file are very small (8 and 2 mb respecitvely)

I've even tried installing modules using IE7 directly on the server with the same result.

The Network Service has Modify Permissions to the site structure and ASP.NET Temporary folder

Here is the Windows Application Event Log entry.

Has anyone had this problem?

I restored my backup (files and database) and got back to the original "clean" install, but I'm still having this problem.

I downloaded the 5.3.1 Install package again, "unblocked" it, and started over. I deleted all the files in the site folder and re-copied the files. I deleted the database and re-created.  Ran the Install Wizard using "Custom Install" and evertyhting went smoothly.

BUT, I still cannot install modules.  I have the same problem as my original post.

Another Clue

Whatever this problem is, it also affects uploading files in the DNN File Manager.

Working directly on the Console of the Server and logged in with the default Host account, here are the steps to I follow to reproduce the problem.

1. Upload a small (50k) zip file to a folder
2. Delete the file
3. Upload it again.
4. Browser stalls after a minute

If the file is larger, say 130k, it will not upload at all.

The end result is the error reported in the first post of this thread and IIS will not restart.  A server reboot is required to fully clear the problem.

I know this could possibly be a Server/IIS/SQL configuration problem since there is no error in the DNN Event Viewer. The only error I get is the one from my first post in this thread.

I have installed DNN dozens of times through the ealiest versions of 4.x through 5.2.2. and have never seen a problem like this  This is my first attempt at a clean install with 5.3.1 on a new server so It's hard to tell if it's DNN or the Server

Any help, guidance, or conjecture would be appreciated.
