What does the authorized checkbox actually do? in DNN 5.2.1 and now 5.4.1 a user who is not authorized has all the privileges as one who is. <?>

We had site registration set to "private" and the user was able to register on her own somehow. (DNN 5.2.1) Why when site is on "private" is the register button visible? Maybe I'm not clear on the meaning of private; but it surely seems strange that a user not marked as authorized can do what authorized users can do.

if a user isn't authorized he can't  make log in and so he can't visit the pages which are prepared only for the registered users.

It should be that way, but as per my first post in this thread, I am able to log on to the portal as a user whose account is not checked as authorized, and see anything and everything available to any registered user.

Thus the question.

Michael, the unauthorized checkbox should indicate if a user has been validated (in the case of private by an admin, in the case of verified via the verification mail). Are you using the default authentication provider, or a custom one? Also, are you logging back in each time, or is this an account with a persistent cookie?
