Is it the right forum to post suggestions about DotNetNuke Bug Tracker(Gemini) http://support.dotnetnuke.com/?

1. You asking "Always search the bug database first"

However access to search is not intuitive. I am using the following way to navigate to keyword search screen:
On
http://support.dotnetnuke.com/ click DNN Core Framework [PUBLIC] link, then click

All Issues, then type keywords. Does simpler way exist?

2. There is no way to see "My Reported Issues" or "my comments".

3. Most of the time Gemini remembers my login name, but sometimes not. However anonymous user can create issue/add comments, so sometimes users unintentionally post the comments anonymously. Interesting to note, that anonymous user can edit comments, created by any other anonymous user. I think that site should not allow anonymous editing.

4. Search has an option

Shawn Mehaffie - the tireless person who's taken on one of the most challenging jobs - QA and Gemini - has three new QA team members - they were discussed in last week's chat and I expect you'll see some changes in how things are handled - they are in fact going through Gemini at the moment.

Genini was the first step towards mangement of bugs and enhancements, and the next step was finding the people to assist, which we've finally accomplished.

I suppose in a perfect world, we'd have everyone going through Gemini before wanting to post a bug so we didn't have duplicates, but it's about interpretation I would think - and how we explain bugs.

This has been an important area for the team to get working properly but it's really literally been since last week there has finally been more hands on deck assigned to this process.

Thanks for your input and I suppose all I can really say is we're listening, we hear you and something is now able to be done on a more regular basis, with more people assisting in helping the process not get duplicated or forgotten.

Another problem with Gemini that I want to note:

If user adds Link to another Gemini issue, the default type of link is "Duplicate". If the user forget to change it (e.g to related) public interface doesn't allow to change it later. It will be better do not have default, but force user to select type.

First off, let me say that I'm not a huge fan of how Gemini works. It's ok, but it could be better.

  1. Sorry, but you're doing it right.

  2. You're right and this sucks.

  3. I've never had any issues with not remembering who I am. I have had problems of being redirected to the home page if my session times out, but I get logged back in, which almost makes it worse.

  4. Good suggestion! I will make sure the QA team sees this suggestion (in case they're not watching).

  5. That's Gemini

  6. This isn't a functionality issue, this is more of a review issue. I will notify the QA team of this as well. If all else fails, create a new issue. We do appreciate you trying to do it the "right" way, tho.

  7. As Nina mentioned, this will be resolved as the newly staffed QA team gets on their feet. Expect to see changes soon.

Beyond all this, I'd like to see us upgrade to the latest version of Gemini (2.0.4). We're currently using 1.9b, which is working on a year and a half old and is 6 versions behind. Here's a summary of a few important changes (in my opinion)...

  • BUG: Move issue bug
  • ENH: Firefox support enhancements
  • BUG: Move issue preserves assigned resources
  • BUG: Move issue drops issue watchers
  • ENH: Find issue enhancement
  • ENH: Sorting/paging enhancement
  • ENH: My Work customization and sorting *** I can only speculate that this would solve #2 ***
  • NEW: Single sign-on *** not sure how it's used, but it'd be nice!!! ***
  • NEW: Integrate with Vault
  • NEW: Issue list customization
There are plenty more where this came from! Check it out if you're interested. In the meantime, I'll pass on your suggestions and see what we can do about upgrading Gemini.

I'll pass on your suggestion for no default link type. Personally, I think there needs to be no default for the component on new issues, either. Too many seem to be just the defaults. I know I've contributed to this, too, so I can't say too much.
