I've been using www.seekdotnet.com. I'm in the process of deploying my first DNN website to production. I can tell you that their support has been very good. Questions are usually answered within a day or so and they have helped with a number of DNN questions regarding installation, portal configuration, etc. Again, keep in mind that I haven't bombarded them with requests.

I would like to be able to get many more DNN sites up and running and than I'll be able to share my experiences regarding performance, etc.

Unfortunately I chose Seekdotnet.
I've been trying for 3 WEEKS to get an explanation, and I still don't know why my website is not working several hours every day.
If you're a gambler, come and join me to share my problems...

The first major thing is to decide what skill level you are at. Some hosts won't hold your hand with the simple things so are good for the more technically inclined.

The hardware requirements depend on the total load the server is going to be under. If you go for a shared enviroment ask the host how they decide on the number of sites that they put on the servers. This should give you an idea on what you can expect.

Another thing to consider is the amount of activity the sites are going to generate to server the pages. If a lot of the pages are comprised of text modules then you can cache these and the site won't use as much as say a site with lots of RSS feeds or a shopping site.

I know this isn't answering the question directly but there is no one answer.

We are currently running our DNN installs on a Dual Zeon 2.8 with 4GB ram quite happily.
