I use the Snowcovered RSS feeds in the DotNetNuke Toolbar to highlight new modules/skins and reviews. However, I noticed that they never seem to update, so I did some investigating: Lets use the "New Reviews" as an example:

If you go to the New Reviews page on Snow, at this point in time (10th Sept), Ultra Media Gallery is on the top with a review from the 7th of Sept. There are about 4 other products with that date which seems to be the most recent.

However, if you view the DotNetNuke Toolbar it is showing the AJAX/HTML Text module as the latest.  If you view the reviews for that module, the last one was on the 3rd of November 2009. The other modules on that list are also old.

I thought maybe I had an old RSS feed so I checked the New Reviews page again. There are 4 possible feeds:

  1. New Reviews (bottom left - this is the one I use) - URL: http://www.snowcovered.com/Snowcovere...
  2. New Reviews (Text) - http://www.snowcovered.com/Snowcovered2/DesktopModules/PortalStore/rss.aspx?feedtype=Reviews&categoryid=590&itemformat=text
  3. New Reviews (top right) - http://www.snowcovered.com/Snowcovered2/DesktopModules/PortalStore/rss.aspx?feedtype=Reviews
  4. New Reviews (text) - http://www.snowcovered.com/Snowcovered2/DesktopModules/PortalStore/rss.aspx?feedtype=Reviews&itemformat=text
Just to be sure, I posted these all into Google RSS Reader side by side. None of them match the output on the New Reviews page. On mine, it is showing Opt In Mail which last had a review on the 18th of August and is not even active (there is a newer version).

The New Releases for modules and skins suffers the same fate. Am I doing something really wrong or are the RSS feeds not working? (I only market my Snowcovered referrals through the RSS Feeds so this has serious consequences).

im not sure what's happening here as I never use the RSS feeds (i.e. is this an old issue or a new one), I'd recommend emailing Snowcovered@dnncorp.com .

In the meantime, can someone check my logic here who uses the RSS feeds? For example - there are now no new modules/reviews or skins in my feeds and I doubt there ever will be with the current RSS configuration?

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We will have our engineering team look into why the DNN toolbar is not updating the RSS feed.
