Hi,

We are using DotNetNuke Community Edition 5.2.3(74).
Currently DNN is installed in IIS under a web site. In otherwords,
the URL to access the default installation is https://mysite.ca/DNN.
We are trying to setup couple of parent portals using this
DotNetNuke installation.

Here are the steps that we followed.

- From Host->Portals->Add New Portals, we created a new parent portal.
the url : mysite.ca/english. Interesting thing is that the template
used to create this site is in turn created from the site running under
https://mysite.ca/DNN.

There are no errors and I click on the hyperlink, the site doesn't
get loaded. Now I go to IIS Management console and create the Virtual
directory for 'english' and copy all the required files and the web.config
is also modified to connect to the new database.

Still when we enter htts://mysite.ca/english, it gets redirected to
https://mysite.ca/DNN only. Any idea what we are missing..?

We know that DNN creates a separate folder under portals, the index of the
newly created portal.I even copied the files under that folder.
Still the same result.

With Regards
Ajit

Just point the Virtual Directory to the location where the /DNN files are, you don't need to copy them.

You should also check to make sure that the Alias was added to the site, you can go to the /dnn site, then go to Host/PORTALS and see what Portal Aliases are listed for the second site. Make sure that the alias is configured properly

Hi Chris,

Thank you for the quick response.
We want to point the second site to a different database and codebase.
I checked the HTTP Aliaces for htts://mysite.ca/english.
It shows:

   mysitesite.ca/english

in IIS do you have the virtual directory setup outside of the /DNN virtual directory?

Yes..
The IIS virtual directory is also outside.
In fact its mysite.ca/English.
Actually we got it working.
But I had to make a manual change to the PortalAlias table.
Again I need to set up the site for another language also.
I am still investigating.
