Hello,

We have an existing VB application that has data entry forms, reports, and security is controlled via database tables.  I am wondering the feasiblity of being able to add considerable more functionality to my app by using DNN.  I am wanting to reuse as much of the existing VB code.  I will take my existing app and make it a portlet within DNN.  I will then want to use DNN for security and the all of the "extra" benefits I'll get from using DNN.  I would like to know anyone's thoughts on this.

Additionally, I am wanting to provide my users with additional reporting capabilities.  They can run reports with parameters, but I would like to add the ability to add/hide columns and create a more robust solution.  Does DNN have anything in the box that would help?

TIA.

The easiest thing to do would be to use the IFrame module to link to an existing application. This is a popular migration pattern. The next step would be to convert your pages and controls to DNN modules. This is a fairly simple process, too, so start off by reading thru the module developer guide.
