Just thought I'd give some 'props' (as my 17 year old would say) to Chris Hammond for the Wiki that is installed on the Dotnetnuke site!

I've used the Wiki on several of my own projects and have always thought that Chris has done a nice job with leading the project. In addition, I've always wondered why DNN didn't use the wiki on the Dotnetnuke site. In fact, way back in the stone ages (early in the DNN ecosystem), when Chris provided me with some one-on-one training, we discussed how nice it would be for DNN to use the module on the site!

So why am I mentioning this now? Well, I figure in light of all the discussion about using Stack Overflow on Twitter (and other locations), it should be brought to light that the Wiki is now installed on the Dotnetnuke website. I, for one will be using the Wiki and would hope that others would embrace the Wiki as a valuable resource too!

Thanks Chris for all the hard work you've put into making the Wiki what it is, thus far! In addition, if you ever need someone to help on the project let me know - it would be an honor to work with you.

For those who aren't aware of the Wiki location, click here: http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/Blogs/tabid/825/EntryId/2820/Wiki-update.aspx

Cheers!

Herb, please be aware, that the Wiki on this site (as mentioned in the post) is a 3rd party module.

The wiki is a great resource.  We are constantly seeking community participation in making the wiki better and could use everyone's help in that task.  Helping on the wiki might just mean spell checking a page, adding a link to a great resource or creating a new page.  If everyone waits for the core team to do it all, we will be here for a long time.  If everyone in the community committed to making one change a week, it wouldn't take long before we had a ton of content that benefited everyone.

So, when you get ready to explain something to a new user in the forums, ask yourself if the information would be useful to the entire community and post it to the WIKI instead.  You can then reference it from the forum post you were going to make anyway.

One final note... like many main landing pages on DotNetNuke.com, the wiki has a shortcut URL - http://wiki.dotnetnuke.com

@Sebastian - I was not aware of that fact. It has been a while since I've downloaded Chris's version of the wiki that I just assumed it was his work. I guess, I just thought the work was good enough to be his :)

Either way, I still think OUR wiki is a good module - I am a little disappointed to now know that it isn't a DNN developer module...

@Mr. Joe - I agree with you about answering questions on the forums, and posting the answer in the Wiki. This makes sense and seems to be a viable solution to helping keep all the information regarding DNN in one place.

I originally stated, on Twitter, that I would support the Stack Overflow project. However, I think I may have jumped onto that ship a little quicker than I should have. I wish I knew how to reverse my commitment on Stack Overflow...

Thanks for the link, too!

Cheers!
