Long story short, I can't remember my admin password (or host password for that matter) to get into my dnn site. Using the password reminder functionality doesn't help...I don't have DNN set up properly on my hosting provider to allow emails to be sent, and I'm pretty sure I just left the reminder field blank anyway.

I can get to the password in the database, but of course its encrypted.

So I guess my question is: how can I decrypt the password from within the database? It's using the asp.net 2.0 membership tables from the looks of it...anyone have any thoughts?

Thanks,

JF

you cannot retrieve an encrypted password, the only chance is by setting it to a new value, this requires direct access to the database.

To alter the host password, create a new user, and remember the password.

enter ASPNet_Membership table via enterprise manager and copy password and password salt from the new user into the host user record.

Now you can login as host user with the new password.
