Hi,
I am using Friendly Url provider and SiteUrls.config. Now I want to have another portal on the same instance of DNN.
Is there any way that I can have Rewrite Rules in SiteUrls.config applied to each portals separately?
So, I want to have a set of Rules for Portal 0 and another rules for Portal 1.

Thanks,
Reza.

Sorry, but siteurls.config is a host wide setting so can't be set for portals easily (though if can can craft the rules to match including the domain portion). There are some other solutions such as urlmaster which support portal level settings i believe.

As Cathal says, the siteurls.config rules are host-wide. This is because they are applied to the request Url before the portal is identified in most cases. The rule helps to identify the portal by choosign which tab to rewrite to, which in turn identifies the portal. (it's a bit more complicated than that, but good enough for an explanation).

If you want to have a portal-specific rule, you'll just have to write something that only matches the specific portal. This can be by tab name, or just about anything really.

In most cases it's really not necessary to portal specific rules unless you have two portals with the same custom rewrite value.

Thanks Bruce and Cathal,
In my case, I have two portals with 95% same functionality. Using the same Url rewriting pattenrs, but different pages with different skins and layout.
That is why I need to be portal specific in rules because TabId for each rule is different for portals.

Is it a good idea to put domain name in rules at least for one of them?

Thanks.
