Hi All,

I'm testing out DNN 4 to see if it meets my needs (unfortunately with limited, fragmented time) and have run into a couple questions I haven't managed to find an answer to:

1 - Is there a way to enable SSL administration of a host/site, but not for visitors to the site?

2 - Is there a best practice for managing a mirrored development portal and moving content into the new portal?

Thanks,

Jason

  1. I don't believe so.

  2. Based on my experience, you really need to treat every install as its own separate instance. Play around on one version of DNN, setup a test version that will mimic your planned production implementation on a test server, and then implement that on the production server based on the lessons learned from the latter two.

There are other ways to manage your installs, but I find this to be the best, in my opinion. You can utilize import/export to help facilitate this as much as possible, but be prepared to duplicate data.
