Ha Ha

I just had to share this one .... as is classic case of how you can use DNN for ages & be unaware of something then discover it & go DOH !

DNN Forum Tip for the Day

It has always bugged me that you cant delete the portal administrator in the user manager section who you assigned to the site when you first created the portal - non-edit rights are preserved likely to ensuree some integrity with the portal, so that you can always administrate.

Well today I just discovered in the site settings that you can change the administrator & this enables you to delete the adminsitrator you have originally assigned to the portal in the user manager. Now this is obvious today, but for years it has bugged me & I thought you could not do.

As an afterthought to this I thought it would be a good idea if we started a forum where users could post little tips like this so that quick solutions can be found to things that sometimes can not be - but be obvious - then we could produce a pop up module with a tip for the day so that we get the quick reminder of how to do things in DNN.

I am sure that there are many like me who learn how to do something and then don't use for 2-3 years then it is like "oh how do you do that", I had that exact situation yesterday & wasted heaps of time trying to work out how to change Terms of Use & Privacy content .... & oh of course it is in "Languages" & how obvious is it that it ought to be their - NOT! (but I can see why it is)

Anyway that is my tip & thought for the day.

(I would almost be prepared to say that I would be keen to get it going as would like to think I could contribute to the community in some little way - anyway, perhaps others might like to share thoughts & maybe we already have something similar.)

Great idea. BTW: for security reasons, it is a good idea, not to kkep default users "admin" and "host", which might be abused for intrusion attempts. Both users can be renamed on custom install or replaced by other admin / superuser accounts lateron and deleted.

Cheers from Germany,
Sebastian Leupold
