HI,

We are experiencing an issue recently with DNN 05.05.00 (653) .  New users are not reliably added to the "Registered Users" role on registration.

The accounts are generated and sometimes the auto-assigment works (it has worked for nearly 200,000 accounts until about three weeks ago).  We have made no core changes to DNN recently or update the version.

The registered users roles is marked 'Auto' in the Security Roles tab

Anybody got any ideas of where to look or what the issue may be ??

Thanks

Steve Hayles

Did it stop working for all the new user accounts or it is a random problem?
Few places where you can start looking:
1. Look at log entries in DNN database that point to any issues related to role assignment.
2. Look in event logs of your server.
3. Check in database in dnn_UserRoles table and see what got assigned to those users. Was any role assigned at all or some wrong RoleID value has been assigned. I have run into this issue recently.
4. Did somebody made any change to the roles in DNN that may have caused RoleIDs to change.

I am currently investigating some security issues related to RoleID values.
