Is there any means in DNN to detect the browser compatability and dispaly an approriate message, ie such as the need for javascript, etc? or to redirect them to a static html page?

Bump.

Does anyone monitor these forums now?  It seems very difficult to get replies on any message these days.  Should I use the asp.net forums still for DNN questions?

no, this ability is not built in.You could create a module to check this, and put it on your homepage.

You should use these forums, the asp.net forums will shortly stop allowing new messages.

Are there any existing module that perhaps handle this?

not that I know of. Another way you could do this is to place javascript in the page to check i.e. alter your skin file to include something like http://www.aspfaqs.com/webtech/082400-1.shtml
