I need to create a new portal on my dnn install and copy the exact site from the original portal into the new portal. Basically what I am trying to achieve is to make a second copy and then make some minor modifications to that 2nd portal such as site name, domain name, etc....

The end result is having two similar sites but on different topics. One on baseball and one on football. This is setup currently on the main portal with points modules, etc... All of these modules and content will work with the second portal as they are portal specific. So i just need to change some wording, graphics etc on the second portal and not have to recreate it.

Can this be achieved using the site export and import or would that import back to the same portal. What is the best way to achieve this?

Hi

If its just pure html content, core modules or modules that support iportable than you can create a portal and then recreate it somewhere else ( different install different portal, different domain it does not matter ) and modify to make it matching

Only thing to look for is sometimes the apth to the iamges are not saved correctly and they point to the portal folder they were in the old portal and not the newly created portal. Happens mostly with copy of child portals

to copy a portal, go to Portals in Host menu and "create a template" from the original site. Next create a new portal for the target site using the template.
