Hi,
Let's say you have a module that saves 'Personalization' information (using DotNetNuke.Services.Personalization). This goes to the "Profile" table.
Let's say this module is uninstalled, or its logic changes.
What then happens is that the site will crash for everyone except for 'host' users, with errors like this:

Server Error in '/' Application.
------------------------------
*Value cannot be null.
Parameter name: type*  * Description: *An unhandled exception occurred
during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack
trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the
code.

* Exception Details: *System.ArgumentNullException: Value cannot be null.
Parameter name: type

*Source Error:*

An unhandled exception was generated during the execution of the current
web request. Information regarding the origin and location of the exception
can be identified using the exception stack trace below.
*Stack Trace:*

  [ArgumentNullException: Value cannot be null.
Parameter name: type]
  System.Xml.Serialization.XmlSerializer..ctor(Type type, String
defaultNamespace) +4022783
  DotNetNuke.Common.Utilities.XmlUtils.DeSerializeHashtable(String
xmlSource, String rootname) +324
  DotNetNuke.Common.Globals.DeserializeHashTableXml(String Source) +11
  DotNetNuke.Services.Personalization.PersonalizationController.LoadProfile(Int32
UserId, Int32 PortalId) +485
  DotNetNuke.Services.Personalization.PersonalizationController.LoadProfile(HttpContext
objHTTPContext, Int32 UserId, Int32 PortalId) +169
  DotNetNuke.HttpModules.Membership.MembershipModule.OnAuthenticateRequest(Object
s, EventArgs e) +5887
  System.Web.SyncEventExecutionStep.System.Web.HttpApplication.IExecutionStep.Execute()
+148
  System.Web.HttpApplication.ExecuteStep(IExecutionStep step,
Boolean& completedSynchronously) +75

My question are:
Is this a DNN bug?
Is there any way to solve it (besides deleting the Profile table contents) from the DNN site itself?
is there any way to avoid the problem, when creating a custom module that saves 'Personalization' data?

Thanks,
Horacio.-
