I want to know that in dotnetnuke we ought to save the settings information with the module table or it is saved somewhere else in some other table etc. i am asking about the practise we ought to follow with dotnetnuke

The recommendation is to use the API for settings and persist them in the tabmodules area
so each set of settings is specific to the module instance on the page - naturally you can use other stores such as portalsettings if you want a different scope but tabmodules is the most common - http://www.sipidcode.com/post/DotNetNuke-5-module-development-tutorial-part-6-The-settings-control.aspx is a good example

I suggest checking out module templates included in DNN VS Starterkit, which demonstrate, how to load and save a setting easily in settings control and use it in view/edit. Be aware that settings might be specified per module instance (modulesettings) or for each page reference to a module instance (tabmodulesettings). For special cases, you may also store it as site or host setting.
