Just recently a legacy site I manage is experiencing issues with allowing users to register.  This is only happening in IE (IE7 & IE8), I am able to successfully register via Chrome and Firefox.

What happens is... you fill out the registration form, hit submit and the page returns empty - with all the required fields marked.

There is no javascript error on the page.  Any ideas?

Hello,

First off, i HIGHLY recommend you consider upgrading to a version higher than that - there was a critical issue fixed in 4.8.3 that is being actively exploited (it's signature is in a number of free and commercial security scanners)

Secondly, check your admin->event viewer to see if any error has been logged and post the details back here.

Nothing shows up in the Event Viewer. This is what the page looks like after I click "register" http://screencast.com/t/QgIRcRqq

PS - I'm aware of the need for an upgrade, and of the risks. At this time, the client is unwilling to pay for an upgrade.

Anyone have any other ideas on this?

its hard to say as that version is old I honestly cant remember if it had any issues -in fact it's so old we dont even have a changelog back that far (though you can search gemini and put in all later versions)

One possibility to check would be around custom profile properies (which I notice you have a few of) - please check to make sure you have no deleted ones in the ProfileProperty table (there is a known issue in later versions which may be something worth checking into - http://support.dotnetnuke.com/issue/V...)

BTW I can't stress enough that at the very least you should upgrade to 4.8.3 otherwise it's simply a matter of time/luck before the site is hacked (if it's not an intranet site)
