I had this same issue and isolated it to not having this on the skin file the home page was using:

<div id="ContentPane" runat="server"></div>

I've had this issue - not being able to log out with ONLY IE9 and DNN6.2. Upon further messin, I figured it was the combination of checking [ ] the remember login box - AND having the default new tab URL set to the site.

After completely dumping all IE cache options and changing the URL, I could finally log out. And now, no mater what I do, I cannot recreate the logout issue. Go figure...

The logout link has worked as expected in Safari, Chrome and FF all along. Just IE9 was sticky.
