From their facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/PowerDNN)

"We are still actively working the outage. CoSentry is on the case with us hand in hand, and all hands are on deck. There appears to be serious packet-loss issues in the region--especially in between CenturyLink and Verizon networks. This is obviously a large Denial of Service attack (DDoS). Facebook and Twitter are outside the attack zone. We will keep our customers and community updated as more information becomes available."

Hello All -

As many of you now know, the PowerDNN network experienced an aggressive Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack on March 14, 2012. This issue began slowly, building to a full scale assault by approximately 4:30 PM CST. We are proud of how our team responded--it was all hands on deck--and systems where starting to come back online in a few hours as we identified and narrowed the points of attack. Within 4 hours, all but a handful of systems and sites were functioning normally.

As of the this morning, the network is secure and functioning within normal parameters. However we have identified source points of the attack--largely originating in certain Australia and the EU networks--and have kept network blocks in place to prevent those points from re-instituting the DDoS. Customers attempting to access our network servers or their sites from those identified networks may have intermittent access due to these blocks. This is temporary, as we work throughout the morning to refine and identify the attack nodes.

If you cannot access your site or server, it does not necessarily mean that your site or server was hacked or used in the attack. Rather, it is more likely that you are trying to access your site or server from a network location near to or associated with an attack node.

If you can access your site and are experiencing any difficulty, it may or may not be associated with the current issue. Contact our support team by launching a support ticket for assistance.

Even though the attack itself was outside of our control--indeed, no one can control when and where such attacks occur--PowerDNN regrets any impact on our customers. Rest assured that our team was right there in the trenches with you every step of the way and we sincerely appreciate those who sent us expressions of support and understanding.

If and/or when additional pertinent details become available we will make that information available. Thank you again for your patience and for being PowerDNN customers.
