Hi - I am wondering where to enable this option - Private Messaging

It is setup in the scheduler, but in the settings, of the control panel of the forums, there is nothing to 'enable' from the dropdown list where private messaging settings are.

It is Active Forums Standard - I went to the active modules website, clicked the link to upgrade but the product is listed as inactive.

Where can I find more about the current status of the forums. I have read over at ActiveModules, but the exact answer to my question eluded me.

Thanks very much

Nina Meiers

The module is listed as inactive over there because it is; DNN corp acquired Active Modules and are planning to merge the features of AF with the features of the current forum and make a stronger, more powerful module out of it. Please, I hope that a DNN corp mod or team member corrects me if I have misinterpreted this as a fact. That's how I understand it. If you want to upgrade your forum, then use the beta over on activeforums.codeplex.com. They say "not for production", but I tend to like using betas in production environments; gives people a chance to test new features as they come. But a caveat is that if you currently use Active Social, that's definitely inactive. I wish I could answer your question though about private messaging; I missed my DNN opportunity till now.

Thanks Katherine Moss...I might have to look at YAF http://www.yetanotherforum.net then - I really need to have private messaging. I'm currently working on a project that a forum which allows pm and this is an important feature.

PM has been removed from AF module, because it is now part of DNN core framework - though it might be helpful in future versions to include a direct link from user name to create message.
