Hi guys

We have a two DNN sites, that are essentially identical - a staging and prod site. Both are running on the same server and have their own database.

What is the recommend process for moving changes from staging to production?

if there is no user content, you may just switch domains bound to both web sites or copy over files and backup/restore database. If there is user content (including site log) you need to keep, you need a more sophisticated merge solution.

backup and restore is the most common approach - the wiki covers some other options -http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/Wiki/Page/Staging-content.aspx

Or make your changes on the PRD site but don't publish them. Wait for the changes to be reviewed, publish them and you're done. No second website needed.

Thanks

but we already have a second website.

Its a fairly common practice to have a staging and production site.

What we are trying to do - is basically do a db and file system copy of staging - and restore this to production.
