Sounds like you need to set up the virtual directory for the actuall DNN website, not the module.

Google "create a virtual directory using IIS express" and you should be able to find instructions. Afterwards, access the DNN website using the newly created virtual directory. If the site launches fine, proceed with creating your module and the error should go away.

Hi

I'm facing the same problem, something is wrong with the redirection to the localhost. I changed de host file as it should be although when I enter http://dnndev in my browser I get the IIS 7 startscreen and not the dnndev site.
Creating a virtual directory, as I suppose, is not what it should do, and even when I try to do it in IIS it tell's me that it's impossible because there 's already an application who uses this path... So I suppose my settings in IIS are right.

But on the contrary, when I enter the adress http://localhost/dnndev/default.aspx I arrive on the correct page. So I assume that there IS something wrong with my IIS settings but I can't figure out what.

So following the Chris Hammond Video on the TaskManager Part 2, I used http://localhost/dnndev as start URL en did the same with the Project URL and the Override.
For now, I can save these settings and the project is working but I'm afraid that this issue will cause problems in the future.

If someone could point me in the right direction for this IIS issue it would mean a lot to me.

Thx

To solve my problem I had to change the http:dnndev/ server in the c# compiled module to my own and it works

You don't have to change your host file like Chris did in his video. In fact, I don't even bother. I create the new virtual directory/website in IIS and access it this way:

http://localhost/

This works fine as well.

Uncheck the checkbox to "create a directory for solution" and see if that helps.
