Hi I'm trying to develop a module for my dnn site but I get this error when I try to create it on visual studio: The local IIS URL http://dnndev/desktopmodules/userDisplay/ specified for Web project userDisplay  has not been configured. In order to open this project the virtual directory needs to be configured. Would you like to create the virtual directory now ?. If I press yes then it shows me the following: Creating of the virtual directory http://dnndev/desktopmodules/userDisplay/ failed with the error: Could not find the server 'http://dnndev' on the local machine. Creating a virtual directory is only supported on the local IIS server.  Why I need to do in order to configure it right ?

Uncheck the checkbox to "create a directory for solution" and see if that helps.

Hi Mark, thanks for your reply. Yes I already have uncheck the option, but sadly it still seems to shows me the same errors.

You have to make http://dnndev a URL that works on your machine. The easiest way is probably to put a line in your hosts file. Usually - C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts

Once that is done you can configure the virtual directory. I have no idea if pressing Yes on that dialog will do the right thing. I choose to do it manually.

Best wishes,

How can I create a virtual directory manually. I think I had created one, but it gives the same errors, so I had not created it the right way
