For some years now I have been teaching site admins to use FrontPage to create bits of html ready to paste into a code view of whatever content editor we where running with.  There where many advantages not the least of which was that they learnt some HTML and most already owned FP as part of office.

I too use it to create fragments of layout code as  it is so much quicker. I have also been using it as a WP with all my client proposals and other gumpf all containing handily in an offline website.

The problem of course is that it writes flakey and old html (which the dnn content editor happily corrects) but it is not really Win7 compatible.

To get to the point of this post, in case it is of help to others:
If you are looking for a free HTML editor you may be as happy as I currently am to find that the Sharepoint Designer 2007 is now available free.

I use Expression for making skins but SPD 2007 could do this just as well. It is FP with css and ASP.Net.  Actually there are very few differences between it and Expression.

Thank you Microsoft.
