Hello,

I have been learning  html, css,Javascript for the last few months. But in terms of Web apps I am new. I decided to go with .Net technology and DotNetNuke to build upon instead of starting my own thing from scratch.

I've been reading the forums and blogs and it is an awesome commnuity.

I have a long term goal of building an E-learning web app similar to lynda, codeschool, codecademy etc. It will have membership functionality, video lessons, interactivity, animation, course completion tracking etc.

I understand DotNetNuke module development is done with C#, But I have also read here some things about KnockoutJS, WebAPI, MVC

So my questions is.

Will there be any changes in DNN module development in the next 2-3 years. Will other languages, frameworks, techs be used to create modules besise C# ? eg: MVC ...or will this be used in conjuction?

What should I focus on in order to create an e-learing web app like the one decribed above?

I know technology is always changing but I am trying to learn which direction are things headed.

Again, this question may sound like a no-brainer but I am just starting out on web app development. I want to focus on learning the right technology to help me create my ideas and will not be passe in a few years now.

Thank you to anyone that shares their advice.

you may create your module in any .net language (there are still a large number of modules in VB.net around) and any module needs to integrate into webforms (this prevents MVC). There are new approaches using MVVP and knockout, but to start, I would use the classic approach first. DNN will continue to support existing modules as good as possible even in the future.
