what are your requirements - describing your needs will help to identify, whether there is already a module for it (or which might be configured to support it).

Thanks for yor answer Mr Sebastian,
The plan is to a provide a database that can be reached from the web, where the scientists can register/(search) their sample collections together with relevant information The aim with the database is to expose the registered sample collection to other scientists. The biobank holds samples from a number of different organisms, and the collected information differ greatly between organisms.

there are a couple of generic table modules available, starting with free Form and List module (http://dnnfnl.codeplex.com)
