You can't set up dns using IIS administration - DNS is an independend server.

Or do you mean to setup a new host listener for your site?

yes, you are correct. and yeah, DNS was a bad choice of words on my part

I am assuming that the DNS is already setup for mynewsite.com so that it points to the server where the main DNN install is. The remaining part would be where you go into IIS and create a new site, point it to the root of your dnn install, and then set the default.aspx page.

I suppose all of this is a moot since most people use web hosts anyways, where all of this is done via a fairly simple UI. webhost4life is a good example. Writing a quick step by step guide for my admins should not be a big deal.

You can automate setting up a new website or virtual directory in IIS using vbscript.

Look in your InetPub\AdminScripts for a file called mkwebdir.vbs. That should get you started.
