Hi DNN'ers

I have enough experince in dnn to know whats going on. but this one stumped me for a week or so.

i 'lost' my virgin copy of dnn 3.2.2 somewhere in my 5 million files i have on my pc so i decided to download another copy. everthing was fine with the download. i have 4 commercial dnn sites running and have probably installed dnn at least 100 times. so i decided to install. blow my hair back and call me bald i could not install this newly downloaded version of dnn. i kept on getting the error could not find stored procedure 'dbo.getportalalias' or something like that then the error 'could not connect to database' after i refeshed. i am 101% sure everything was as it should be....

anyway today i decided i might as well search my hd and find my original installation that i downloaded in january this year (2006). so i tried to install it with exactly the same procedure i used in the recent download. everything worked hundreds. so i shifted the blame from me to the latest version of dnn 3.2.2 that is availiable for download.

i checked the directories. this is the result.

jan version: the one that works. (unzipped)

size 9.72 MB (10,195,050 bytes)

size on disk 12.0 MB (12,668,928 bytes)

contains 935 files, 106 folders

latest version i downloaded (unzipped)

size 9.79 MB (10,271,539 bytes)

size on disk 12.1 MB (12,783,616 bytes)

contains 949 files, 107 folders

see the difference?

so if anyone downloaded a spare copy of dnn 3.2.2 lately then i expect you will have the problems i did.

i also suspect there might be diffeences in the different mirrors.

has anyone had a similar experience? i would be interested to know.
