I've been trying for a while now to fix this issue with my DNN 4.* installations. You download the starter kit, install it in VWD and then you create a new portal.

It works just fine except that when you try to register you get the error "Error: Register is currently unavailable"

I've seen other people looking fo  solutions to this proble in  these forums with no replies so far. However this is a serious problem and personally I'm a DNN baby somewhat so I don't know where else to look.

I was hinted that this problem could be with the trust level under which the installation runs. I uncommented the setting in the web.config and left it to ...

<trust level="Full" originUrl="http://localhost/.*" processRequestInApplicationTrust = "true" />

This was the only thing changed in the entore application adn the installation still does not work. I did an OS reinstall over this thing and still cant get it to work ...

I hope one of the seniors will take pity on us and offer a solution. No portal technology can really be useful without working registration.
