Does the journal use the default file access API or is it using a custom method for accessing files in the file system?

it uses a service framework method, which internally uses the filemanager API to verify permissions, types etc.

Cathal,

I looks like the ItemData field in the Journal table uses the Physical path for images and files that are attached to the journal instead of the LinkClick.aspx?fileticket method.

Why does the Journal do this? The HTML module uses the LinkClick.aspx?fileticket method to set the file path.

By skipping the LinkClick.aspx?fileticket method there is no way to enable cloud storage for the users folder.

DNN will be severely limited as a viable social platform where users can upload files to Journal due to the expense of hosted web server storage, versus cloud storage, as long as the physical path is used in the ItemData field.

What can we do to fix the physical path mapping and get the journal to use the LinkClick.aspx?fileticket method?

Thanks,

Joseph

much of the journal code came from the ActiveSocial product which AFAIK did not support folder providers -please log it as an enhancement request to support.dotnetnuke.com so it can be considered, though I suspect it is already well known and may already be on the list for future updates (I'm not a member of the social team so don't know their plans)
