Hi All, my understanding is that previous versions of DNN did not really have built in SVN - with the new EVOQ release is it still necessary to setup SVN, is it recommended? Can anyone offer advice / recommendations on this?

no version of DNN requires source control such as SVN - in fact putting a copy of a site in source control is often not a good idea as source controls systems typically apply permission changes that can cause issues if the site is then copied back to production (e.g. set all files to read only, so they can track if they change). If you are making your own custom extensions I would always recommend you put them into source control however, and in that case it doesn't really matter what control system you use - nowadays github or codeplex are very popular, or else classic products such as subversion.
