DNN still has the best eco system out of all CMS tools. The module options are second to none and I think the community is good as well.

Wrodpress is a great tool. I have clients that use it to blog and that's where it really shines. You can add some basic pages and widgets but I found it limited to that. Large scale web site didn't seem to be it's strenght.

Bugs is always present in every version of DNN released and I find it normal in any platform. What's good with DNN is that staffs are always easy to approach to find solution to our problem. That is the reason DNN is great platform.

"What DNN is today and the skins and extensions available for it now are childsplay for what is to come or at least what can be done."

This at least sounds intriguing! :)

I admit, my experience of Wordpress is limited compared to 4 years working with DNN, but the modules available always seem to be of a higher quality. DNN is more of an open framework and Wordpress is still tied to its blogging roots. Although that can also be a blessing, forcing you into a more defined and controlled way of working.

To provide a fair picture, I've recently also had trouble with the Form and List module not being fully compatible with v7.2.2 and a community member has gone out of his way to provide a fix, via email, that has worked a treat. That type of community spirit is very good.

"But switch to WordPress? Unless your just running a simple site, that sounds like a really bad idea. No"

That is not a very well informed statement. WordPress has the largest CMS footprint in the world and has a lot of capability if you know what you are doing. From an end user perspective, it can be extremely intuitive and easy to use for admins. One of it's best assets is a unified, consistent admin. I would say the plugins and themes available for WP are greater in terms of breadth and quality.

Look at e-comm, there are a number of solid choices for WP. IMO, DNN excels with user management, permissions/security, workflows, doc management and integration capabilities. No matter what the system, you need a capable professional with the expertise to avoid creating an unmanageable mess.

Jason, I encourage you to stick with DNN if you already have invested time and capital. There usually isn't a problem that cannot be solved with a little help.
