A few YEARS ago I wanted to launch a hosting company where web sites where hosted as portals in DotNetNuke. One of the biggest problems was figuring out how to have each website use it's own mail settings to send emails out using my mail server. It was a host setting only. If this is implemented only now in 7.3,  I am going.. wow.. that took a long time to implement ... and by a volunteer. I never did launch the service.

yes, it's a welcome edition. Sadly it's an example of where we (the platform team) dropped the ball as Oliver Hine offered it quite some time ago, and it never quite got added for various reasons (lack of resources usually) - thankfully now we have github in place and a process for accepting, reviewing and committing contributions, Oliver was able to submit it as a pull request, and we were able to quickly review it and get it added in with minor changes.
