DNN 7.3.3 For some reason Alert messages are not opening  and the Alert Flag stays on in the Notification area.

This stated a few days ago. I go to the Message Centre and there are no Alerts to view, the Alert flag indicates n of Messages. Click the "Notification" tab and get the error message. "Error occurred while processing the request." Messages tab is okay.

 Any ideas?

have you tried looking at the requests in Fiddler to see what the exception is -alternatively set log4net to All, and check what the error is. It sounds like some bad data is causing the issue

Thanks for your replay Cathal. Apologies for not replying sooner, been AWOL.

To be honest I'm not familiar with either Fiddler or log4net. What I do know now id that this is unique to the Host account. All the Alert notifications on my user account and the Admin account and I assume member accounts are working fine. And yes I agree that most likely bad data. I have looked at the data and nothing seems out of order. I could of course be looking in the wrong place.

Trying to think of how to create an alert on the Host account to see if it adds to the Alert flag count. The Host account doesn't get all that many Alerts. Ideas on what to do to trigger an Alert?

if you mean host_alert eventlog type the easiest way is to use the restart application button on the host settings page - if you mean messages I believe the host gets a copy of new user registration messages (if the same account was used for install)

Had left this alone for awhile thinking it is just the flag on the host account notifications. Not so, also errors in the message system. Sent a PM to another member from my user account and my account was flag on sending that I had a new message. There was no new message just the one I had just posted. Sent another to a test account with the same result. Over on the test account a new message was flagged, on hitting the Reply get the message. "The message no longer has any valid recipients so replies have been disabled."

Don't see any log entries for this.
