Hi Guys,

I've just noticed that our DB size(80gb) is tremendously big when you go check under sql management studio and database properties. But it's not the same when i backup(13gb) the database. Not sure what's happening. Your help will be much appreciated.

Regards,
Vishal

Vishel,
please check database files, which files are causing the size, it might be the transaction log file.
You may switch recovery mode of the database to simple (in database properties), this will limit transaction log size.
Besides, your nightly database backup should be executed with "truncate transaction log".

Hi Sabestian,

Again, many thanks for your help into this matter. I've checked the recovery model and it's already set to simple. In regards to the log file(.LDF) it's just around 5gb(even that is a bit bigger but comparatively smaller than the main .mdf file). But after looking at the database properties> Files i can see that there's an option to manipulate the size inder "Initial Size" column(currently it's 74942mb, will it affect dnn if i reduce the size?) and "Autogrowth" is set to "1mb, unrestricted growth". Is this normal?

P.S: Your turboscript for dnn does magic. It boosted my site performance tremendously.

Regards,
Vishal

Vishal,
initial size doesn't matter, you need to select Tasks > Shrink Database and shrink the database file.
I am glad you like my Turbo Scripts, please take care to follow instructions on every DNN upgrade.
