Hello all.

I wanted to bring these things to someone's attention in the community. As I explore the DNN site, I notice that I'm unable to access certain parts ... like the profile section of the forums, for instance. I use text-to-speech software to access a computer, being blind all my life, and those sections of the site seem to be unresponsive to keypresses, nor do some of the areas seem to be marked as links (at least, not by screen readers as they glean information from the screen and displays it as audible text). As a result, I'm unable to do things like editing my profile (because I'm unable to get the "profile" link to respond to a key press of the enter key (equivalent to a double-click), and when entering certain pages on the site, I have to type in their direct URL as oppose to finding them on the homepage. Examples are /forums and /login. This is because to a screen reader, they're simply not there ... the skin used on the site does something to it to make it appear as if they aren't there, or in some cases, the link is unlabeled. I wish I could speak more intelligently about the coding deficiencies of this issue, but I'm no coder, or not yet, at least. I'm reporting this, for if I'm going to use DNN for a site that advicates accessibility, then, I want said site to be accessible to begin with. What DNN needs is WCAG compliance. I'm willing to help test and do whatever I can to enhance the experience for those with differing abilities. just throw me on the core and tell me what reports you want written up and you'll see it done. Thanks and I look forward to further discussion.

Katherine,
I apologize for any issues with this site - parts of it like the Forums module are rather old and are not maintained actively.
However, there are URLs for each of the controls, but hard to guess. The Forum Profile link would allow you to edit your signature, which gets displayed after each of your Posts - that's all.
The Skin is much more recent and should provide access to all pages and functions - it Looks like the owners of the site missed to check for WCAG compliance.
If you need any assistance, please let me know and I'll try my best.

Cheers from Germany,
Sebastian Leupold

While we are on the subject, then, you mention the age of the forums module. Since one of the sites that I will be setting up, message boards and community engagement is a huge part of it, do you have any suggestions for which forum module I should use that will provide the best experience for all possible users?
