I'm just reviewing Dot Net Nuke for use on my up and coming web sites. I am surprised to see that an open source project such as this doesn't use the leading open source database, mySQL as its backend.

I have spent some time searching through the forum to see if there is any support or interest in this from others, and found many posts. I am none the wiser as to whether the DNN community will ever actually provide a [free] mySQL data provider for its .net versions of DNN?

Perhaps someone from the core team can provide some information here on what, if anything, is happening?

If any others are interested in a mySQL dataprovider then please reply to this thread, and perhaps the level of interest might get things moving....(if they aren't already ofcourse).

And if developers for such a project are in short supply, then maybe we can generate some interest there too....

Yes I've seen that but it is a commercial rather than open source version. Have you used this? Anyone out there used it in anger?

It would be more accurate to say that it is commercial rather than free... just because something is Open Source does not mean it needs to be free or cannot be commercial.
