I am trying to put some SWF files up on my DNN site through the HTML editor but now to no result. I get an empty container that displays the "click or press space bar to activate this control"

I have a copy of the SWF on my server in the same diectory as the DNNs Default.aspx resides. When I was working with Starter Portal 1.0 this was all it needed. I also made sure and created a folder that was the same name as the folder where the SWF resides on my PC. I also tried to upload the file through DNN to the portal ROOT, but nothing works. What am I doing wrong? or not doing at all?

Thanks

Mark

Try using the Media module to add flash.  You can also use a third party product from http://www.inventua.com - they have a flash player module which is very handy too.

Thanks, that worked. I do however have one more question. Can I upload the the "portal root" directory directly through my servers FTP? I forsee this to become a difficult task when some flash files are broken into 20 smaller files that are required for one swf to run properly. I cant imagin going though DNNs upload process one by one for this.

Sometimes these forum threads just "die" without answers... kinda frustration.

The answer to the upload-file question, in case anyone else reads this thread again, is that you can collect all the loose files into a single ZIP file, and then upload the ZIP file. The upload screen has a boolean field which will make DNN unzip the file after it has been submitted. Smart, efficielt, and easy.

You can upload via FTP or any other method.

If you have a recent DNN then there is an auto-sync option in Host Settings that should be enabled. If that turns out to be insufficient, then you can also enable a sheduled file-sync - find that in Host, Shedule.

There is also a button in the file manager for syncronising the file system and the database. This was the previous method. Click it after the upload if you want to be sure your files will be visible.
