Hello,

I have been using the DNN Platform for around 8 years and I am setting up a new DNN instance. Is DNN version 9 (9.1.0) stable? I will be setting up a SSL certificate and forcing the site to be HTTPS. I will be using Dynamic Forms by Data Springs (Chad Nash) and Bring2Mind's Document module by Peter Donker. I have played with DNN 9 in a localhost environment and really like the new User Interface (UI).

Additionally, I am slightly concerned about the existence of the DNN Platform in the future. Does DNN plan on supporting the free platform, which is an excellent tool, in the future or will they force all of their customers to Evoq Content (CMS)?

Thanks in advance for your help,

Matt

Matt,

Just launched a new site in DNN 9.1:

http://www.mdrealtor.org/

I think the better question is "Is it feature complete".

Most of the gripes you will hear is about the Persona Bar and the admin modules.

I get where they are going with the new Persona Bar. It is faster loading but not all the admin tools have a 1to1 counterpart in DNN 9 yet.

Page Management / Page Settings are still a mess. And the Site Settings screen is also lacking.

Top things that bug me right now:

1. I cant create a page that links to a file and upload the file at the same time unless I dump it in root.

2. I cant link to a page that is a subpage of a disabled one.

3.Cant add a module from another page that is a subpage of a disabled one.

4. No persistent edit mode, no layout mode, no way to switch out of edit mode without logging out.

Michael

Yes, it's quite stable.

There may still be some "feature" isses related to the massive porting and rearrangement of admin features. I've got a few days of experience with 9.1.0 and haven't personally run into missing features. But, there certainly could be.

As for DNN, everything that I know tells me that DNN Corp views the DNN Platform and the Community Edition as important. There's no indication of backing away. Not surprisingly, though, there will continue to be innovation on the commercial side.
