I recenty installed dnn 4.3.1 and I discovered that i have a strange behaviour in the <HEAD> section.

I have a line starting with <head id="Head"> and continuing for 1400 characters that include all the followings in one line.

<meta id="MetaDescription" name="DESCRIPTION" content="xxx">
<meta id="MetaCopyright" name="COPYRIGHT" content="xxx">
<meta id="MetaGenerator" name="GENERATOR">
<meta id="MetaAuthor" name="AUTHOR" content="xxx">
<meta name="RESOURCE-TYPE" content="DOCUMENT">
<meta name="DISTRIBUTION" content="GLOBAL">
<meta name="ROBOTS" content="INDEX, FOLLOW">
<meta name="REVISIT-AFTER" content="1 DAYS">
<meta name="RATING" content="GENERAL">
<meta http-equiv="PAGE-ENTER" content="RevealTrans(Duration=0,Transition=1)">
<style id="StylePlaceholder">
</style>

I have some errors from search engines and tools that tell me that my pages have no description. Is this a bug that I can accomodate myself?

This issue still exists in version 4.4.0. It has nothing to do with the white space filter apparently because disabling it fixed everything else but the meta tag section.

In addition default DNN skin containers are not xhtml compliant. Mostly simple stuff like lowercase tags and closing tags like
and
.

This is actually how .NET renders the tags (not how dnn does it).  DNN just uses the .NET <Meta> HtmlControl

Well that is definitely a bummer. That is just plain ugly :( And most likely not a thing that can be done about it unless there is a custom control for it I suppose?

I know that first thing I do as a web developer when I see the site I like is to take a look at the source (not to steal but out of curiosity) and see how clean the job is. Not that it really matters but still...

Can we hard-code meta tags in default.aspx and not use .NET ? I wasn't able to find where I can choose which meta tags are included in this. Is there such an option?

Thank you,
Predrag
