Hello.

I sure could use some help. I hope this is the correct forum. Since I am trying to build a slideshow, I figured this would be the place. But my question actually is about "dnn modules" and ".dll files." As best as I can determine, dnn stands for DotNetNuke, but I don't really understand what any of this means.

All I wanted was a simple way to replace the RockYou slideshow on my home page to one that can be clicked and go to pages on my site. I got what I thought was going to be easy-to-use software. Wrong! Since downloading it, I have been unable to open anything and I don't have any idea of what I need to do.

What I've got here are "dnn modules" (whatever that is). I unzipped the download and when I try to open any of the files, I get a box that says: "You are attempting to open a file of a type 'Application Extension' (.dll). If you still want to open the file, click Open With, otherwise, click Cancel."

When I click "Open With," another box appears that says: "Windows cannot open this file. To open this file Windows needs to know what program created it. Windows can go online to look it up automatically, or you can manually select from a list of programs on your computer."

When I indicate that I want Windows to look it up automatically, a page opens that says:
"Windows has the following information about this file type. This page will help you find software needed to open your file.
File Type: Dynamically Loaded Library
File Extension: .dll
Description: This file is part of an application or Microsoft Windows. This file will be used by the application or Microsoft Windows. You can find who created this file by right clicking on the file, choosing Properties, and selecting the Version tab. You may search the following Web site for related software and information:
Windows Live Search
You may purchase or download software related to this file type from the following Web site:
Windows Marketplace"

Can anybody tell me what I need to do?

Thanks

DNN is an extensible Web Content Management System (WCMS), where functionality may be extended by installing modules. These modules are not designed to run on its own, i.e. you need to install free DNN Platform first (see download page on this site) and install extensions from within. You may also need to make sure the extension is available for the current DNN version (release should usually not be older than 2 years).
